The Best 100 by KGDA aims to recognize designs that have a global influence and a holistic impact on society.

The award involves dozens of leading experts from various design fields, as well as a fair, rigorous, impartial, and structured evaluation process. The award publicly recognizes the excellent and talented designers each year. The influence of the prize goes far beyond the award ceremony and a snapshot of the project. It can transform design projects and styles into global design trends, showcasing innovative and functional designs that promote sustainability, aesthetics, and user experience.

Kyoto Global Design Awards Categories:

Environment
Environmental design encompasses fields such as architectural design, interior design, public art, urban planning, landscape design and more. The Kyoto Global Design Awards evaluate each entry in terms of nature, society, humanities, environmental impact and other relevant factors to select works whose overall appearance and style meet the above criteria.

Industrial
Industrial design inlcudes areas such as computer-aided design, furniture design, transportation design, product design, software design, systems design and more. The Kyoto Global Design Awards takes into consideration the craftsmanship and value of products in terms of technology, aesthetics and economy to select works that are innovative and/or contribute to future trends.

Visual
Visual communication design includes areas such as advertising design, packaging design, illustration design, animation design, web design, information design, interaction design, user interface design and more.
The Kyoto Global Design Awards judges each entry on its overall aesthetic, sophistication and ability to inform and influence the public.

Trend
Fashion design fields eligible for the Kyoto Global Design Awards include cosmetic design, fashion design, jewellery design and more. Technique, concept, trend sense, classicism and the ability to set trends are the main criteria for nomination.

Theory
Design theory encompasses areas such as design history, design criticism and related academic disciplines. The Kyoto Global Design Awards recognises reviews and papers that have made an academic contribution during that year.

Real Estate
Real estate design encompasses areas such as commercial development, real estate marketing, recreational facility development, multi-purpose building development, office development, public facility development, residential development, high-rise development and more. The Kyoto Global Design Awards recognises companies and designers for groundbreaking or exceptional achievements in the real estate industry.

Restaurant/Hotel/Bar
The Kyoto Global Design Awards recognises outstanding hospitality, reception and commercial spaces. Winners are judged on the colour design of their spaces, visual and spatial coordination, lighting and other relevant elements.

As part of its partnership with the Global Sustainable Association (GSA), the KGDA jury panel selects and nominates every year 100 outstanding designers and design studios, who set trends or contributed significantly to the field of design.

The criteria for nomination is based not only on the design features of their projects, but also on their functionality and their approach to emphasizing human well-being and environmental protection.

The international contest is open to designers, students and professionals worldwide.

Prize:
