Viviane Esders Prize: Viviane Esders on January 15th, 2022, launches the first edition of the Viviane Esders Prize that will be awarded each year to a professional European photographer over the age of sixty to reward the work of an independent photographer who is still active.

Short description

The Viviane Esders Prize (Prix Viviane Esders) has been recently announced ad has aim to reward the career of a professional European photographer over 60 years old, who is independent and still active.

This unique prize will be awarded each year to a professional European photographer over the age of sixty: to reward the work of an independent photographer who is still active, whose career, the extent and the quality, deserves more recognition or bringing to the fore in the history of photography.

A jury consisting of five personalities linked to the art world will select the winner with Viviane Esders among five nominated photographers. The exceptional grant is intended to celebrate the continuity of a career and encourage sharing. Part of this grant must be used by the winner to contribute to producing a book.

The Viviane Esders Prize will be presented during the Paris Photo event in November 2022.

Note! The call for applications will be open on 15 January 2022.

Results will be announced November 2022.

Who may enter?

The Viviane Esders Prize is open to professional photographers over 60 years of age, European, independent, not represented by a gallery or an agency in 2022.

Prize:

The prize will reward the winner with a financial endowment of €60,000 offered by Viviane Esders. Part of which will be devoted to the potential usefulness of the grant as detailed by the candidate in his or her note of intent and a part reserved by the winner (€10,000) for the production of a book on his or her work.

The five nominated photographers whose work has attracted the attention of the jury will thus have the opportunity, for several months, to be highlighted and to see their work in the spotlight.
