International Comic/Manga Schools Contest 2021 now is over!

International Comic/Manga Schools Contest 2021: The Japanese company Celsys is pleased to announce the 4th edition of its International Comic/Manga Schools Contest 2021 dedicate to students enrolled in an art school or extracurricular art programs studying illustration, comic art, design, fine art, or other similar subjects.

Short description

The Celsys (who developed the painting software Clip Studio Paint) officially opens the 4th edition of International Comic/Manga Schools Contest 2021, comic and manga contest, open to students worldwide.

The contest is an opportunity to have your work judged and critiqued by professional creators and boost your skills. This contest also aims to support young creators around the world and encourage more artists to create comics and manga.

This year theme is "Admiration".

School registration begins on November 10, with entries from students to be accepted from January 12, 2021.

Charlie Adlard, known as the artist of “The Walking Dead” comic series, and popular webtoon artist Simone Ferriero, along with five other judges will select works that appeal to a worldwide audience as the winners. Professional creators and sponsors will give detailed critiques to help not only the winners, but also readers of the entries and their critiques, to improve their skills.

The winning entries in the comic categories will be translated into English, French, Spanish, German, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean for readers all over the world.

Submissions may be created using any drawing tools or software. If you create your submission using traditional tools, please submit a digital scan of the artwork.

Submission requirements:

➜ Submissions may be formatted for right-to-left or left-to-right reading.
➜ There are no restrictions on language depicted in works.
➜ File Formats: PNG, JPEG, CLIP (CLIP STUDIO format), less than 32MB per page
➜ You can create your comic in any size, but we recommend using 300 dpi resolution for color comics and 600 dpi for black-and-white works.

The winner will be announced on Early July 2021.

This time, an online award ceremony is also planned, where the winners will receive words of encouragement and critiques directly from the judges.

Prize:

Shueisha, KADOKAWA, SHOGAKUKAN, Wacom, BookLive, and KI-OON will participate as the contest’s six special sponsors, and seven other companies from Japan and abroad will participate as sponsors. Award-winning entries will have a chance to be published by each company. There will be chances for a wide range of comic entries to win, with dedicated categories for webtoons, manga, and bande dessinée. There is also a script category where participants create a comic based on an assigned script.
