Illustrated Cycling 2022 Illustration Competition: The Municipality of Torres Vedras recently has opened very 1st call for entries to its 2022 Illustrated Cycling (Ciclismo ilustrado), international contest that has aim to encourage all national and international illustrators to create a set of unpublished images on the theme of cycling, according to predefined specifications.

Short description

The Municipality of Torres Vedras is calling for entries to the 2022 Illustrated Cycling (Ciclismo ilustrado) contest, open to all illustrators over 18.

This contest aims to encourage all national and international illustrators to create a set of unpublished images on the theme of cycling, according to predefined specifications.

Biennial competition whose main objectives are the dissemination of illustration as a relevant artistic discipline, broad participation in artistic and cultural activities and the promotion of the territory of Torres Vedras (Portugal). For each edition, a theme is identified that allows exploring the tangible and intangible heritage of Torres Vedras. “Cycling” is the theme chosen for the 1st edition.

The support to be used is paper measuring 30 cm (height) x 40 cm (length) and the technique is free.

The jury, composed of two representatives of the Municipality of Torres Vedras, a academic representative, an artist/illustrator and a representative of the sporty/cycling, will select 25 finalist works that will become part of the municipality's artistic collection.

The 1st and the 2nd prize winners, will be disclosed at the awards ceremony and opening session of the exhibition at Fábrica das Histórias space – Casa Jaime Umbelino – year 2022 or 2023.

Note! The registration deadline is 24th of May but you can submit your illustration until 31st of May.

Evaluation Criteria:

The evaluation will have as criteria the presence of a strong concept associated with the theme, the quality of execution and the originality of the work.

The selected works will be announced until July 22, 2022.

Participation is open to all people over 18 years old.
