Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2025 : Wildlife Photographer Of The Year 2025, annual internatonal photography competition recently organised by Natural History Museum every year calls all photographers, professional or amateur worldwide to put nature in the frame and to see work that raises awareness of the beauty and fragility of the natural world.

Wildlife Photographer Of The Year 2025, organised by Natural History Museum , is now open for entries calling on photographers worldwide to put nature in the frame, helping to promote sustainability and the conservation of wildlife. It recognises, rewards and celebrates the work of both emerging talent and established professionals worldwide.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year harnesses the power of photography to promote the discovery, understanding, and responsible enjoyment of the natural world. An image can alter the way we see, think and feel. Whether captured in the most remote wilderness or taken in the intimacy of your own backyard, a truly great image of Nature can change our worldview.
There are two competitions:
➜ Adult Competition open to photographers aged 18 and over;
There are 16 adult categories:
(1) Animals in their Environment; (2) Animal Portraits; (3) Behaviour: Amphibians and Reptiles; (4) Behaviour: Birds; (5) Behaviour: Invertebrates; (6) Behaviour: Mammals; (7) Plants and Fungi; (8) Under Water; (9) Urban Wildlife; (10) Natural Artistry; (11) Oceans: The Bigger Picture; (12) Wetlands: The Bigger Picture; (13) Photojournalism; (14) Photojournalist Story Award; (15) Rising Star Award (ages 18 to 26); (16) Portfolio Award (ages 27 and over).
➜ Young Competition open to photographers aged 17 and under.
Images can cover any aspect of wildlife and the natural world, whether wild plants or animals or their natural environments, or illustrate our interaction with nature, good or bad.
Entrants are required to report on the natural world in a way that is both creative and honest. Images entered must not attempt to deceive the viewer or misrepresent the reality of nature. Entrants must not do anything to injure or distress any animals or destroy their habitat in an attempt to secure an image.
You can enter the same image into more than one category. Black and white images can be entered into all categories.
Ownership of the copyright in all images submitted to the competition will remain with the copyright owner(s).
➜ Who may enter?
The competition is open to photographers aged 18 and over for the Adult Competition and to photographers aged 17 and under for the Young Competition.
➜ Prize:
The prizes for photographers (aged 18 and over) include the Wildlife Photographer of the Year award with a prize of £10,000, a trophy, and a personalized certificate. Other prizes include the Portfolio Award (£2,500 and a trip to London for the awards ceremony), Photojournalist Story Award (£2,500 and a trip to London for the awards ceremony), Rising Star Portfolio Award (£1,500 and a trip to London for the awards ceremony), and individual category winners (£1,250 and a trip to London for the awards ceremony). Additionally, there is a Special 60th Award with a prize of £1,250 and a trip to London for the awards ceremony.
For photographers (aged 17 and under), the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year award includes a prize of £1,500, a trophy, and a personalized certificate, along with a 2-day Masterclass with a professional photographer. Young category winners receive £500 and a personalized certificate, along with a trip to London for the awards ceremony.
➜ Entry fees:
Entry in the Young Competition is free. Entry in the Adult Competition is 30 GBP. The cost increases to £35 in the last week of the entry period, from 11.30 on 28 November 2024..
