The Caterpillar Poetry Prize 2025 : The Caterpillar Poetry Prize, organized by The Caterpillar, a print magazine for children featuring poetry, short stories and art, has been recently opened for entrie for its 2025 year.

Short description

The Caterpillar Poetry Prize, organized by The Caterpillar, a print magazine for children featuring poetry, short stories and art, has been recently opened for entrie for its 2025 year.

The Caterpillar Poetry Prize is an annual prize for unpublished poems written by an adult for children aged 7–11.

The poems can be on any subject. There is no line limit

Entries must be in English.

Every year since 2015, The Caterpillar Poetry Prize has been awarded to a single poem by a single judge – among them John Hegley, Chrissie Gittins, Roger McGough, Michael Morpurgo & Michael Rosen.

Who may enter?

The Prize is open to anyone (over 16), as long as the work is original and previously unpublished.

Prize:

➜ 1st prize: €1,000, plus a week at Circle of Misse
➜ 2nd prize: €500
➜ 3rd prize: €250

The winning poems will be published in the Irish Times online.

Entry fees:

Entry fee is €15 per poem.
