Solarpunk Poster Competition : The Solarpunk Poster Competition, recently opened for entries is an exciting global contest that invites artists, illustrators, and designers to create visionary posters inspired by Solarpunk: Short Stories from Many Futures.

To celebrate the recent publication of Solarpunk: Short Stories from Many Futures, organiser Flame Tree Fiction is very excited to announce an exciting global poster design competition for creatives, designers & artists.

All artists, illustrators, and designers are invited to create visionary posters inspired by Solarpunk: Short Stories from Many Futures.

Organised to celebrate the solarpunk movement, this competition seeks to promote sustainability, ecological innovation, and optimism through creative expression. Participants are encouraged to imagine and depict a future where renewable energy, community collaboration, and environmental harmony thrive. With a focus on hopeful and regenerative futures, the competition aligns with the themes suggested by the anthology’s contributing authors, ensuring a rich and diverse creative exploration of solarpunk ideals.

This poster design competition welcomes submissions in various artistic formats, including graphic design, illustration, printmaking, and collage, allowing creatives to showcase their unique styles.

Each poster should reflect one of the twelve thought-provoking themes, ranging from urban sustainability and renewable energy to inclusive, community-driven innovation.

The competition provides an opportunity for artists worldwide to engage with the solarpunk aesthetic, a growing movement that envisions sustainable cities, decentralised technology, and a future shaped by environmental consciousness. By participating, entrants will contribute to a broader dialogue on how art can inspire tangible, forward-thinking solutions for climate resilience and social equity.

➜ Submission requirements:

➜ The file with the artwork must be attached to the email (PDF or JPEG).
➜ Artwork must fit into dimensions 1960 x 1280px
➜ Any orientation ie. landscape or portrait is acceptable.
➜ Posters do not have to fill the full space ie., a square poster is acceptable.
➜ Entries must consist solely of original, human-created artwork; pieces incorporating generative AI elements are not eligible.
➜ Include a short biography and any social media handles in the body of your email.

This competition is open to artists worldwide. You do not have to be an professional / experienced artist to submit your work - just someone with a vision for the future.

Each winning artist will be awarded with a prize and have their work showcased at the London Book Fair 2025.
