Philo-Photo International Photography Contest 2025 : Philo-Photo International Photography Contest 2025, created by New Acropolis, has been recently announced inviting all photographers aged 18 and over to submit their most striking single images that reflect this year’s theme.

Short description

The 2nd edition of the Philo-Photo Photography Awards, created by New Acropolis, is announced and will be open for entries on April 15th 2025.

The Philo-Photo Contest invites all photographers aged 18 and over to submit their most striking single images that reflect this year’s theme, From Darkness to Light.

This year’s theme, From Darkness to Light, invites photographers to delve into the transformative power of light and its ability to reshape how we experience the world. Light reveals what was once hidden, uncovering truths obscured by darkness and bridging the gap between perception and reality.

Beyond the physical, this theme also reflects an inner journey—a movement from ignorance to self-awareness, from confusion to clarity. Explore the profound interplay between shadow and illumination through your lens and capture moments that spark reflection, inspiration, and wonder.

For this open contest, each photographer may enter up to three images of any type and category related to this year’s theme. PhiloPhoto is a unique contest born from the union of two disciplines: Philosophy and Photography. This union creates a dynamic dialogue – a space where image and concept meet, not as mere reflections of each other but as complementary forces in creative tension.
In this interplay, the concept doesn’t describe the image, nor does the image illustrate the concept. Instead, they coexist in a relationship of contrast and harmony, revealing profound connections between immediacy and contemplation.Photography captures the instant—a global, instantaneous perception. Philosophy, in contrast, unfolds over time, inviting reflection and analysis. Together, they create works that are familiar yet enigmatic, understood but not fully resolved—like water mingling with oil, forming a beautiful, ever-shifting paradox.PhiloPhoto challenges photographers to create images that provoke questions and spark an inner journey for the viewer. This is not just about creating art—it’s about exploring the balance between personal expression and universal meaning.
