JIA Future Artists Award 2025 is now open for entries!

JIA Future Artists Award 2025 : JIA Future Artists Award, organised by the Japan Illustrators' Association (JIA), recently opened for entires aims to discover future talents in illustration art, commend outstanding young creators, and build an international cultural and artistic exchange platform using illustration as a medium.

Short description

JIA Future Artists Award, organised by the Japan Illustrators' Association (JIA), collects children's artworks globally. It aims to discover future talents in illustration art, commend outstanding young creators, and build an international cultural and artistic exchange platform using illustration as a medium.

The Japan Illustrators’ Association (JIA), established in 1999, aims to discover and encourage outstanding illustrators worldwide, promote exchange among illustrators, cultivate young talents, protect the rights of illustrators, and enhance the status of the profession.

There are no themes and you can apply for works of any genre. All types of artwork are accepted, including but not limited to: hand-drawn, CG, printmaking, and three-dimensional works. For flat works, the paper size should be between A4 (210×297 mm) and A2 (420×594mm), with a thickness of less than 5mm.

Announcement of the winners will be made in July.

Winning young artists will receive cash prizes, certificates, and free participation in large-scale illustration exhibitions. Their works will be showcased in touring exhibitions in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai.

Submission requirements:

➜ All entries must be the original work of the entrant, and you may submit a maximum of 5 illustrations. Images must be in electronic format (JPEG files). The width and the heights should be within 2,000 pixels.

➜ If your work is hand drawing works you need to scan them or take photos and turn them into digital data. If your work is three-dimensional works you can take 3 photos of each work from 3 directions and make them one set.

Who may enter?

Children and youth aged 6-22 (born between March 1, 2002, and May 31, 2018) from all nationalities is eligible to partecipate in this competition. Submissions can be made as follows individual applications or group submissions.

Prize:

The award is divided into four age categories: 6-8 years, 9-12 years, 13-18 years, and 19-22 years. In each category, one Gold Award winner receives a prize of 120 USD and a digital certificate; three Silver Award winners receive digital certificates; eight Bronze Award winners receive digital certificates; and finalists receive digital certificates. Additionally, winning works will be exhibited free of charge in large-scale illustration exhibitions, with touring exhibitions planned in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai.

Entry fees:

Entry fee is 30 USD per artwork.
