Design Educates Awards 2025 is now open for entries!

Design Educates Awards 2025 : Design Educates Awards 2025, competition that investigate the educational potential of architecture and design has been recently announced by Laka Foundation, inviting everyone to promote globally the best ideas and implementations of architecture and design that educate.

➜ Short description

Laka Foundation is accepting entries for its Design Educates Awards (DEAwards) 2025, an multidisciplinary call for ideas that recognizes the best ideas and implementations of architecture and design that can educate.

The Design Educates Awards showcase and promote the awarded designs globally. The design itself may provide an informative and educational layer that guides us through the increasing complexity of our environment. It can showcase specific possibilities and challenges, explain sociocultural factors and influences, or even outline new scenarios for future development.

The Awards are open for creative, innovative projects or concepts (completed from the last 5 years) of any scale that, in addition to excellent aesthetics, incorporate added value - such as educational potential, storytelling elements, the stimulation of critical thinking, the ability to influence users’ emotions or behavior, and an impact on perception or encompass other similar values.

Competition categories include:

➜ Product Design - Products of all scales and types: eg. industrial products, household goods, tools as well as.
➜ Architectural Design - Buildings, landscaping, and small forms that bring change to their surroundings.
➜ Responsive Design - A building, object, or product that are capable of reacting to conditions in a given environment, recognizing a problem and finding a solution by interacting with its surroundings and users.
➜ Universal Design - The designs that may not be strict in architecture or product design or are interdisciplinary or difficult to categorize into other categories.
In addition to the general evaluation, the student project with the highest score will be awarded the label of Emerging Designers. Parallel to the Jury’s evaluation, representatives of Solarlux will select the laureates of Solarlux Choice.

Participants can submit multiple designs in the same category, multiple designs in different categories, or a single design in more than one category, and in teams or individually.

Projects must be submitted in English.

The awards ceremony will take place during the Architecture in Foyer 2025 conference at the Solarlux Campus in Germany (Melle, Lower Saxony, Germany) in September 2025. The conference will be hosted by Solarlux GmbH, the strategic partner of the awards.

➜ Who may enter?

The awards are open to everyone. There is no limit as to the number of participants per team. Underage persons must apply through their legal guardians.

Laureates of the main prizes and honorable mentions will receive: certificates and winning labels, inclusion in the yearbook “Design Educates”, invitation to participate in the Awards Ceremony and Exhibition in Germany.

➜ Individual professional / Company < 10 employees: 175 Euro
➜ Company 11 – 100 employees: 350 Euro
➜ Company 100+ employees: 600 Euro
