➜ Short description
The Bee Friendly Trust is launching a competition for a bee sculpture for display inside the main concourse of London Bridge Rail Station.
All artists are invited to create a high-quality, innovative, educational, and engaging piece of public art.
Guidelines:
➜ The finished sculpture will be installed by suspension inside a frame or mounted on a plinth in the main concourse of London Bridge Station.
➜ There is flexibility over the size of the final sculpture, but it should be scalable to 2m – 3m and as light as possible.
➜ The sculpture should represent a honey bee (Apis mellifera).
➜ The sculpture should be constructed from primarily recycled materials including recycled drinks cans.
➜ The design should include the possibility of at least one moving part. Moving parts can be electric powered but do not have to be.
➜ The design should reflect the mission statement of the Bee Friendly Trust.
➜ The design should draw on and connect with the biodiversity initiatives of London Bridge Rail Station, including planting projects, community engagement and zero waste.
➜ London Bridge Rail Station is used by all ages so the sculpture should appeal to and be appropriate for a wide demographic.
