6th International Poster Competition “We want Jazz” now is over!

6th International Poster Competition “We want Jazz”: “We want Jazz” International Poster Competition, organized by EUROJAZZ Jazz Music Promotion Foundation now in its 6th edition, has been recently opened for entries inviting anyone wordwide to participate submitting posters on the theme “KOMEDA 55”.

➜ Short description

The competition is organized by EUROJAZZ Jazz Music Promotion Foundation based in Warsaw, Poland.

Artists are asked to design a poster on the theme “KOMEDA 55”. The year 2024 marks the 55th anniversary of the death of one of Poland's most important jazzmen and the world's most important film music composers, Krzysztof Komeda. He wrote music for nearly 70 films, and gained worldwide recognition through his collaboration with director Roman Polanski. This resulted in such iconic pictures as “Knife in the Water” and “Rosemary's Baby”, “Fearless Vampire Hunters,” among others. His extraordinary music, as well as his legendary and unchanging status as a cult figure in Polish jazz and film for decades, means that his compositions are being rediscovered by successive generations of musicians. In 1966, he and his quintet recorded the album “Astigmatic,” considered by world jazz critics to be the most important album in the history of Polish jazz. Each author may submit a maximum of 2 posters to the competition. Works must be submitted electronically.

The organizers will select 25 works from submitted posters. Among them three winning posters will be chosen, whose authors will receive a final prize. The jury will also award distinctions. The selection of posters and the selection of winning work will be made by a jury appointed for this purpose, consisting of experts and representatives of the organizer.

The results of the competition will be announced on September 12, 2024.
