Short description

The Bird Photographer of the Year (BPOTY), photography competition organized by Bird Photographer of the Year Limited, based in England, is an internationally contest that brings together the world’s best bird photography, offering a platform for photographers to showcase their talents while supporting bird conservation efforts.

This annual event features a range of categories, from classic portraiture to more artistic and creative perspectives.

BPOTY is not just a competition for professional photographers; it also warmly welcomes amateurs and young photographers, aiming to encourage a deep appreciation for birdlife through the power of visual storytelling.

Entries are evaluated across categories such as "Birds in Flight," which celebrates the dynamic grace of birds, and "Birds in the Environment," highlighting the interplay between birds and their habitats. Special categories like the "Conservation Award" focus on the pressing environmental challenges that birds face globally, urging participants to present strong conservation stories through their imagery. This fusion of art and activism allows BPOTY to shine as a contest that not only rewards technical and creative mastery but also contributes to wildlife protection efforts through the medium of photography.

Special awards, such as the Conservation Award and the Portfolio Award, recognize collections of images, while the Young Bird Photographer of the Year title celebrates the best young talent across three age groups.
